Reiki is a non-religous healing technique founded and developed by Mikao Usui (1865-1926) The original term for this is Shin Shin Kaizen Usui Reiki Ryoho or "Usui Reiki Treatement Method to Improve Body and Mind". Jikiden Reiki demostrates this original teaching and it is shown in pure and authentic way.

The word of Jikiden means: "directly passed down". Jikiden Reiki is not influenced by western culture. To come back to the roots, you can discover the essence of the Reiki. Jikiden Reiki differs from Western Reiki in its approach, attitude and spiritual background. Some people feel significant difference, when they experienced the Jikiden Reiki energy. Some Reiki master feel stronger energy feeling, which they have never experienced before in other Reiki schools.
Mrs. Yamaguchi learnt Reiki from Dr. Hayashi sensei, when she was only 17. Of course Mrs. Yamaguchi completed the teacher level of Reiki. She got the teacher degree from her uncle, Washaburo Shugano, who was a direct student of Dr. Hayashi with Dr. Hayashi 's blessing.
This is very important because, Dr. Hayashi was the one of teacher degree students who learnt Reiki directly from Mikao Usui. Chujiro Hayashi faithfully followed the Reiki system of Mikao Usui. Lot of people think that Dr. Hayashi created his own Reiki system, but it is not true. The real fact is that Dr. Hayashi faithfully followed Mikao Usui 's teaching without any changing. Mrs. Yamaguchi clearly remembered what she has learnt from Dr. Hayahi sensei and since her initiation, she had been practiced Reiki for over 65 years in her daily life. She teached Reiki of course for several years without any changes.
By the end of 1990's the Reiki spread in the world and finally went back to Japan. Oddly In Japan, while the Western Reiki became very popular and very few people know the real roots of Reiki. Essentially these Western Reiki schools cover the 99% of Reiki.
Chiyoko Yamaguchi and her son Tadao finally has been discovered and their existance became public. Because of that fact, that Mrs. Yamaguchi was dircet disciple of Chujiro Hayashi - who teached the original system of Reiki - several people travelled to Japan trying to meet with the Yamaguchi's.
Chiyoko and Tadao Yamaguchi realized that Reiki became very accepted in the western world and it is taught in very different ways as they learnt from Dr. Hayashi sensei. There are some other differences from Hawayo Takata teaching's too. So Chiyoko and Tadao Yamaguchi founded the Jikiden Reiki Institute in 1999 with the purpose of preserving and teaching Reiki in that original way, as was taught by Mikao Usui and Dr. Chujiro Hayashi.
1. To publish books illustrating its effectiveness and documenting people's experience of Jikiden Reiki
2. To enable people to use Reiki as complementary to conventional medical care.
3. To inform doctors, nurses and other medical professionals the effecetiveness of Jikiden Reiki, thereby initiating the use of Reiki in conjuction with western medicine in the conventional medical field.
4. To introduce the use of Jikiden Reiki as the method of medical care in the household. This should help to stop dependence on everyday allopatic remedies and conventional drugs. The ultimate objective here is twofold. Firstly people will become healthier as their bodies start to remember how to heal themselves without external chemical substance. Secundly, there will be significant reduction in the amunt of medical waste, a positive on the environment on a global scale.
The Jikiden Reiki Institute is very fortunate to possess several original document, photo from the history of the Reiki and how Mikao Usui and Dr. Hayashi practiced the original Reiki. Everal of them was not known until Tadao Yamaguchi published his book, named "Light on the Origins of Reiki". This book is a very precious help for all Jikiden Reiki teachers.
Outside of Japan the first Jikiden Reiki training was held in 2003. Unfortunately in this year Mrs. Yamaguchi passed away. Nowadays her son Tadao sensei leads the Jikiden Reiki Institute and carry on the teaching of Jikiden Reiki.
